Do you want raw goat milk?

How does it taste?

Let’s answer the first question everyone has about goat milk first! It tastes like milk. There is no “goaty” taste. Our milk is clean, fresh, and immediately chilled which means it tastes like the delicious milk you’re used to. Contact us for a taste so you can see for yourself!

How it works:

At Heritage Springs, we offer a limited number of herd shares for those who want to enjoy fresh, unpasteurized goat milk from our pasture-raised mini nubian goats.

Under Virginia law, the only way to obtain raw goat milk is for you to own a goat. If your HOA would frown on you having a goat in your yard, you’re in luck- our HOA is cool with us having goats in ours.

You can purchase part of our herd of goats which entitles you to a portion of the milk our herd produces each week. We take care of your part of the goat herd here at our farm in exchange for a monthly boarding fee.

What you receive:

Weekly pickup of fresh, raw goat milk (A full share is 1/2 gallon per week)

Information on how the herd is raised and milked

Regular communication and updates from our farm

Why you can trust Heritage Springs:

We are a small, ethical, family-run farm

We provide a clean, loving, and stress-free environment for our animals

Milk is handled with the highest sanitation standards

We have our milk lab-tested regularly to ensure it is as safe to drink as possible

How much does it cost?

There are two costs associated with participating in our herd share:

  1. Buy in fee- this is the purchase price for a share of the herd. The cost for a full share is equal to 1/7 of the cost of a doe because you will be receiving 1/7 (or one day’s worth) of milk each week. The buy in cost for a full share is $100. The buy in cost for a half share is $50. If you leave the herd share, Heritage Springs Farm will buy back your share in our herd and you will receive the purchase price back. This fee is not for us to make money, but to be legally compliant.

  2. The monthly boarding fee- this is the price for caring for your share of the herd. It includes the costs of feed, bedding, veterinary expenses, delicious goat snacks to keep our herd happy, and other costs associated with caring for the herd.

-Full share boarding fee is $60/ month*

-Half share boarding fee is $35/ month

*Herd share members who purchase 3 or more full shares receive a 10% discount on all shares

Is raw goat milk really better for you?

Yes!! Here’s how:

-Easier to digest than cow milk because it has smaller fat globules and is naturally homogenized. It is also lower in alpha-S1 casein, which is a common allergen in cow milk so it is a better option for people with sensitivity to cow milk

-High in nutrients- calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, selenium, Vitamin A, D, and B2 (riboflavin) which means it is excellent for bone health and immunity support

- Rich in natural probiotics, enzymes, and beneficial bacteria which supports gut health and can balance the microbiome

-Has immune-boosting properties because it contains immunoglobulins and bioactive compounds which helps support immune defense- especially in children and immunocompromised individuals AND it is high in medium-chain fatty acids (like caprylic and capric acid) which have antimicrobial and antifungal properties

-Supports healthy weight and muscle gain because it is a nutrient-dense food. It is ideal for kids and elderly individuals with low appetite, malnourished or recovering animals, building muscle in livestock or pets

-Promotes healthy skin!

-Studies suggest raw goat milk can reduce inflammation, possibly due to its fat profile and enzymatic content.
